NRO Participation at the Internet Governance Forum in Istanbul

About the Internet Governance Forum

The Internet Governance Forum (IGF) is an open, multi-stakeholder forum which facilitates discussions on public policy issues related to Internet governance, such as the Internet’s sustainability, robustness, security, stability and development.

The ninth annual IGF will take place in Istanbul from 2-5 September. The theme this year is “Connecting Continents for Enhanced Multi-stakeholder Internet Governance”. For more details, see the draft program.

The Number Resource Organization (NRO) encourages all members of the global Internet community to participate in this important dialogue on Internet governance, where all stakeholders meet on an equal footing.

NRO at the IGF

As the unified voice for the five Regional Internet Registries (RIRs), the Number Resource Organization (NRO) recognizes the participation of the public and private sectors, as well as all aspects of civil society, as critical to discussions on the future of the Internet.

Of particular importance at this year’s IGF will be the session “IANA Functions: NTIA’s Stewardship Transition and ICANN’s Accountability Process”, which takes place on 5 September from 9:30-12:30 (UTC+3). ). Learn more about this topic.

Although the NRO will not host a workshop at this year’s IGF, NRO and RIR representatives will participate in a number of workshops throughout the week.

If you will be attending the IGF in Istanbul, we invite you to visit the NRO booth  (number 19) in the IGF Village! Staff from all five RIRs will be available to answer your questions about the NRO and the respective regional Internet communities.

Remote Participation

If you are unable to attend the 2014 IGF in person, you can participate remotely via live webcast and join in discussions in real time. There will also be several remotes hubs around the world.
