IP Address Space Management

The Regional Internet Registries (RIRs) are responsible for the regional management of Internet number resources, comprising IP addresses (IPv4 and IPv6) and Autonomous System Numbers (ASNs). The RIRs allocate, assign, and manage these resources following community-defined technical and operational policies.

Each RIR community develops its own policies to manage Internet number resources, and works with other RIR communities on policies that require global coordination.

The RIRs get these Internet number resources from the Public Technical Identifiers (PTI), according to need and in line with current global numbering policy.
