This made me laugh.  The US Congress _never_ makes up its “mind” about _anything_.

Please bear in mind that it is purely a political body.  Congresspeople make assertions about matters they’re uninformed on in order to impress potential donors.  That fact is orthogonal to any work that we’re doing here.

Likewise, that’s also always true, and also orthogonal to our work.
