[CRISP-TEAM] FW: 2ND CRISP IANA PROPOSAL Draft - Updated 1440UTC

Apologies, one minor edit to my last e-mail,

III.A.3 – included text to the preamble immediately preceding the principles section "While there are no concrete needs or plans at this point, the NRO EC may in the future determine that the IANA functions related to number resources should be transferred to a different contractor.”

is actually now in III.A.1 pursuant to our call and also includes the sentence

In such a case, selection of a new contractor shall be conducted in a fair, open and transparent process, in line with applicable industry best practices and standards.

 Thanks,
-MIchael

Subject: [CRISP-TEAM] 2ND CRISP IANA PROPOSAL Draft - Updated 1440UTC

Hello everyone,

Thank you again for those who hopped on the last minute call today, it was very helpful logistically as I compiled all the comments and most recent edits.

Please find attached a clean and redline version of the most updated 2nd Draft Proposal. In these documents, you will observe the following changes I made as compared to the last version of the 2nd draft. Please let me know if I have missed anything or you see any further edits to be incorporated. I have a couple of comments on drafting at the end of the email below. I look forward to your feedback.

Edits incorporated:

I.A. - including text of “maintenance of the global Internet number resource registries…”

I.C. Provision of reverse DNS services in “IN-ADDR.ARPA” and “IP6.ARPA” domains may also require interaction with the .ARPA zone registry.

II.B.2 – revision to section “ICANN has historically provided IANA service…"

III.A.3 – removed “Contract and”

III.A.3 – revised “following principles” to “principles listed below”

III.A.3 – included text to the preamble immediately preceding the principles section "While there are no concrete needs or plans at this point, the NRO EC may in the future determine that the IANA functions related to number resources should be transferred to a different contractor.”

III.A.3 – removal of text “jurisdiction will be dependent on the chosen IANA functions operator"

III.A.3.ii – revision as suggested

ii. Description of Serviced Provided by the IANA Operator to RIRs

Principle:
The IANA Operator will maintain the global Internet number resource registries. The IANA Operator will distribute Internet number Resources to the RIRs in accordance with the specific processes and timelines described in this section of the agreement. The IANA Operator will delegate subdomains below the IN-ADDR.ARPA and IP6.ARPA domains in accordance with the allocation of IPv4 and IPv6 addresses.

III.A.4 – Review committee text reflects Alan’s most current text edit circulated by e-mail

V.E – revised per Nurani’s suggestion – clarification “This proposal does not replace….”

VI – regional process formatting updates suggested by Nurani - (AFRINIC “setup” to “set up”; removal of hard breaks)
-also, removed the timeline graphic and revised text immediately below to reflect substance of the timeline graphic in text form. Much of it was already covered by LACNIC but I supplemented with specific time duration references to capture the spirit of the graphic.

*Please note that I made the edit as agreed for the reference to “IN-ADDR.ARPA” and “IP6.ARPA” in I.C.; however, I note that there are other references in the document to “IN-ADDR.ARPA” and “IP6.ARPA” - I have not made any revisions to those references as those were not discussed but I wanted to raise the issue in case any edits to maintain consistency are needed for those as well.

Also, not taken up in this draft, we can clean up hyperlinks and references/footnotes for the final draft. I am happy to do so, but there was not enough time to incorporate in this draft.

Thanks,
-Michael

Subject: [CRISP-TEAM] 2ND CRISP IANA PROPOSAL Draft - Update

Team,

I am combing through the email correspondence and so far have edited the 2nd proposal draft as follows:

Changes made:

I.C. Provision of reverse DNS services in “IN-ADDR.ARPA” and “IP6.ARPA” domains may also require interaction with the .ARPA zone registry.

Is a change to ii. Description of Serviced Provided by the IANA Operator to RIRs also required for consistency?

II.B.2 – revision to section “ICANN has historically provided IANA service…"

III.A.3 – removed “Contract and”

III.A.3 – revised “following principles” to “principles listed below”

III.A.3 – included text to the preamble immediately preceding the principles section "While there are no concrete needs or plans at this point, the NRO EC may in the future determine that the IANA functions related to number resources should be transferred to a different contractor.”

Open Items

Any agreement on modifications to the Review Committee text?

Should we remove the jurisdiction text as suggested by Paul?

Please let me know if I’ve missed anything on the call. I am hopping on now.

Thanks!
-Michael
