World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS)

The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) was held in two phases.

The first phase took place in Geneva, hosted by the Government of Switzerland, from 10-12 December 2004. 175 countries adopted a Declaration of Principles and Plan of Action during this phase. The second phase of WSIS took place in Tunis from 16-18 November 2005, where NRO joined the Internet Pavilion. Many organizations attended and co-hosted the pavilion, including:

  • ISOC
  • IETF
  • NRO
  • ICANN
  • CENTR (Council of European national Top Level Domain Registries)
  • LINX (London Internet Exchange)
  • AfriSPA (African ISP Association)
